Minnesota

The Minnesota sites are supported and funded by the Northland Foundation: http://www.northlandfdn.org and Community Experience Partnership, an aging initiative of the Atlantic Philanthropies: http://www.cprgroup.net/CEP.html

The Northland Foundation partners with the people of northeastern Minnesota to support economic and social justice and help the region thrive. The foundation’s Grant Program directs resources to nonprofit organizations that connect kids and community and strengthen families, promote self-reliance, and assist older adults to age with independence. A Business Finance Program supports economic prosperity and job creation through loans to businesses and nonprofits. An operating program, KIDS PLUS, includes an array of initiatives that nurture children and youth from birth to adulthood.

The newest member of the KIDS PLUS family of programs is entitled AGE to age: bringing generations together. It is an undertaking that builds upon the Northland Foundation’s nearly 25-years of hands-on work with community organizing, children and youth, older adults, and multi-generational initiatives. AGE to age joins members of ten small Minnesota communities, including three Indian Reservations, to build relationships that cross generational boundaries; self-identify community needs; and craft local, culturally appropriate solutions.

The Northland Foundation joined the CFAA’s national network in 2009 and has been working with two of these AGE to age communities in northeastern Minnesota: Moose Lake and Proctor.
